I'm looking for definitions for ferrous and non-ferrous metals. As near as I can determine, non-ferrous are metals that include only nickel, copper, lead & zinc whereas ferrous metals are the more porous carbon steel variety. Can anyone verify this for me as a definitive description? Also, I don't believe that stainless steel fits in either description and rather, is usually noted as 'stainless steel' since it doesn't fit the non-ferrous or ferrous definition - true?

thanks,

Chris
