A technical staff of almost 100 scientists and technicians, working in 6,000 square metres of well-equipped laboratories, is engaged in a research and development program designed to provide technology solutions for Canadian industry. MTL is also the national agency for the certification of personnel for nondestructive testing. An Engineering and Technical Services unit provides CANMET divisions with the support needed to carry out projects.
