Consultative Forum: Summary

The Chairmen's Summary of the first meeting of the Non-Ferrous Metals Consultative Forum on Sustainable Development held in Brussels, Belgium September 28-29, 2000 is now available on the Web site under Reports and Events. Included with this summary is a copy of the list of activities recommended by the Forum in Annex A.

As a result of the Forum discussions, three ad-hoc working groups are being established to take the actions forward. Each working group will be given the task of looking at all of the recommended activities outlined in Annex A of the Summary, then developing and implementing a programme of work. The Summary is being circulated widely to all countries and stakeholders groups that might have an interest in becoming involved in the work of one or more of the working groups.

Interested participants must be identified to the Secretariats of each the three Study Groups by Friday, 26 January, 2001. The joint Study Group Advisory Committee on Sustainable Development will be meeting the following week to consider all the responses and initiate the groups.

Anyone interested in receiving more information should contact the Secretariats of the three Study Groups.
